A Few Facts About San Clemente Real Estate

San Clemente has an old Spanish feel which is quite intentional and was brought to the city not by some Spanish conquistador, but rather by the former mayor of Seattle. Ole Hanson founded the "Spanish Village by the Sea" way back in 1925 with strict guidelines that called for Spanish colonial architecture with red tile roofs and white plaster. In other words, Hanson proposed a theme town before theme towns were cool.

San Clemente is experiencing a quiet renaissance. San Clemente is conveniently located off the I -5 Freeway. Quick and easy access to other Southern California destinations is also made possible by the nearby San Joaquin Transportation Corridor (73).

The southern most city in Orange County is San Clemente. Known primarily as a seaside community, it is also know as the second home to former president Richard Nixon, who maintained  a home, known as the ‘western white house’ here for several years.
Over the past ten years this beautiful city of San Clemente has seen tremendous growth in its real estate market with new communities such as Talega. Even with this growth, San Clemente still offers an excellent quality of life, retaining a Seaside community feel that has a relaxed atmosphere.

San Clemente may best be known as a great surfing destination. San Clemente catches swells all year long. San Clemente is also the surfing media capital of the world as well as a premier surfing destination. It is home to Surfing Magazine, The Surfer's Journal, and Longboard Magazine, with Surfer Magazine just up the freeway in San Juan Capistrano.

The city has a large concentration of surfboard shapers and manufacturers. Additionally, many world renowned surfers were raised in San Clemente or took up long-term residence in town, including Shane Beschen, Matt Archbold, Christian Fletcher, Mike Parsons (originally from Laguna Beach), Colin McPhillips, Colleen Mehlberg, Greg Long, Dino Andino, Chris Ward, and many, many others.

Residents have access to both public and private schools. Among the public schools currently serving our community are Vista del Mar, serving grades K-8, Clarence Lobo Elementary School, which provides preschool through grade 5 education, Bernice Ayer Middlle School, serving grades 6 through 8, and San Clemente High School, which now serves 2,400 students from San Clemente, Capistrano Beach and portions of San Juan Capistrano. The private schools accessible to residents of San Clemente include Our Savior's Lutheran School, St. Michael's Academy and Our Lady of Fatima School..
